Wine and Oil Tasting, Snacks, 6 hours, rated 4.8 across 385 traveller reviews.
This six-hour day trip from Chania bundles the two tastes Crete is proudest of, wine and olive oil, into one loop through the Kissamos mountains. You ride an air-conditioned bus from a set pickup point in the Chania region, stop at a family winery founded in 1993, then continue to a traditional village where you can see an olive tree estimated at 3,000 years old. A second winery, a vineyard walk and an olive oil factory round out the day before the drive back.
The tasting side is generous. At the wineries you sample local varieties such as Vidiano, Muscat of Spina and Vilana alongside international ones like Syrah and Grenache rouge, all shaped by the local terroir. There is also a white blend combining Vilana, Vidiano and Assyrtiko. At the oil factory you learn how extra virgin olive oil is made and taste it alongside local products, and the day closes with Tsikoudia, the Cretan farewell spirit.
Snacks are included and reviewers repeatedly say they are filling, with cheese, bread and more served at the tastings, so many travellers treat them as lunch. Pickup, drop-off, transport, entrance fees, the driver-guide and all tastings are covered.
A few practical points will help you get the most from the day, drawn from the listing and from what past travellers consistently report.
